PID ‘declares’ China an Islamic Republic

ISLAMABAD: While issuing a routine media statement, the Press and Information Department (PID) may have inadvertently declared China an Islamic Republic.
Buried within the 1,500 words of Press Release No. 151 is the paragraph, “The Cabinet gave Approval for Signing of Protocol for the Period from Nov 2004 to Nov 2012 and Approval for Revision of Protocol between the Government of Islamic Republic of China for Scientific and Technical Cooperation in Surveying and Mapping.”
The faux pas is not exactly a rare occurrence. A series of similar blunders has plagued the Prime Minister’s (PM) media office over the past week, suggesting that the federal government’s mouthpiece has trouble getting its facts straight.
On April 14, a statement on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s meeting with visiting South Korean premier said that PM Chung Hongwon was accompanied by “Mr Han Jinhyun, Vice Minister for Trade and Energy from the Chinese side”. Only three days later a statement
regarding a Cabinet Committee on National Security (CCNS) meeting renamed it the National Security Committee. CCNS was created last August, and a National Security Committee has yet to be constituted.
However, as the official source on all things ‘government’, it may be premature to call this a mistake. Perhaps the note in Press Release No. 151 is intentional, and the PID knows something no one else does.

We have somehow developed a tendency to declare counties as "brotherly and friendly and Islamic" who give us aid. No problem at all if the donation benefits more to the donor then to us. Since China has been providing assistance since long, in a way it is a bit late, to declare it as Islamic Republic.

India gives Muslims special reservation,subsidies for Hajj,economic aid to lift them up,allows them to occupy top posts in govt and army...But they are enemies to Pakistan
China has displaced the Uiyghurs from XInjang with Han people,arrests them for involvement in terrorism,force feed them during Ramadan fasts,destroys their mosques ....But they are the all weather friend to Pakistan

A case of Freudian slip? Only USSR in 1960 to 1980s was un-Islamic. After 2010, only USA is un-Islamic. This is Pakistan's foreign policy in two sentences. No wonder Pakistan is one of the most isolated countries in the world.

The sentence, even otherwise, is incomplete as it omits after 'between the Islamic...' the words " Republic of Pakistan and the Peoples " . Apparently a typographical mistake. And issued without proper proof reading.

Islamic Republic of China, and People's Republic of Pakistan? Has some ring of truth to it if you are a Sharif.
After all, China is successful so it must be Islamic, and Pakistan in dumps, so it must be all the fault of the People's Party.

meaning: China, Arabia and India, all belong to us.
Soon, China, Saudi Arabia and India will all, accede to Pakistan, and we will become one big - I mean humongous - "Islamic Republic"

If another country had used the words like Jewish, Communist, or Secular for Pakistan, JI and their peers would be taking their rallies to that country's embassy in Pakistan and create a law and order situation that they love best to do. And many others would detect a conspiracy against Pakistan.
They used to say that the most corrupt department in Pakistan was anti-corruption department, now we can say that the most misinformed department is the department of Information.

Couldn't agree more. The fact that we (Hindus and Muslims) have lived together for centuries has been forgotten because of political reasons. I just hope that we learn from India and Indians as to how to make progress in education, medicine, engineering and IT fields.

Are we talking of international affairs or what is happening in these countries let every country look after their citizens in their way, What happens in somebody's house is not our responsibilities. What happens to sunnies in Saudi a is also not our pigeon.We should be worried about our own affairs, Yes if the office of the PM is making clerical mistake it should be corrected and that is our worry not what happens to muslims in some other country. Besides we cannot stop violence in our society which is hurting us more than in some other country.
