LAHORE: Shahdara Town police took a seminary teacher into custody on Sunday after a six-year-old child, who went missing on Saturday, was recovered from a locked room of a seminary where he studied.

Police said Afzaal alerted police that his son Danial did not return home from the seminary. Police raided the seminary and found the child locked in a room. The teacher, identified as Ramzan, was formally arrested.

The child's family alleged the suspect locked Danial after beating him and later feigned ignorance about his whereabouts when his father went looking. The suspect claimed the child had left the seminary after his class. Police registered a case against the suspect and began detailed investigation.

KILLED: A 27-year-old rickshaw driver was gunned down by his passenger following a fare dispute outside Mayo Hospital on Sunday.

Gawalmandi police said Zubair Ahmad had brought a passenger from Baghbanpura to the hospital. When Zubair asked for the fare, the passenger got into an argument and started quarrelling.

The suspect, who was armed, got furious and opened fire on Zubair and ran away. Zubair was pronounced dead in the emergency ward.

JUBILATION FIRE: Two people, including a woman, suffered gunshot wounds when some guests at a wedding opened fire in jubilation in Shahpur Kanjran, Chuhng early on Sunday.

Police said some wedding guests, who were allegedly inebriated, fired in the air leaving Rasheeda and Waheed injured. The suspects fled from the scene while the injured were admitted to a nearby hospital.
