PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police department has blacklisted four firms in connection with supply of substandard weapons, ammunition and other gadgets to the police force.

According to a press release issued here on Tuesday, police had carried out the procurement of weapons, ammunition and other gadgets for operational policing in 2008-09 through tender.

Besides the main firm M/S Majeed and Sons, three other firms have been blacklisted, which include M/S Shayan-i-Sarhad Enterprises Peshawar, M/S Al-Moiz Trading Cooperation Peshawar, M/S Shahid Traders Peshawar and M/S Shaheer Trading Company Peshawar.

These firms in collusion with M/S Majeed and Sons brought colossal losses to the national exchequer and tarnished the image of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They also discouraged fair competition in the bidding process of the provincial police.

These firms were served with show-cause notices as per rules to appear before DIG finance and procurement and explain their position. However, the firms didn’t abide by the notices. — Bureau Report
